Text Box: In Loving Memory of John E. Davis
09/20/1941—02/27/2006
Text Box: Some of you knew John Davis as a Leader.
More of you knew Dad as a successful entrepreneur.
Many of you knew him as a Relative (or extended family).
Most of you knew him as a Proud, Generous, Comedic person.
All of us here knew him as a friend.

All of us need to know and remember not only who he was, but how he affected each one of our lives. He treated everyone with the same respect whether it was someone pumping his gas or the president of a company.
Dad touched so many people in so many different ways. Dad has taught many of us through his actions, examples, and standards he has set. I know each one of us can think of a time or instance in our life when he affected us.

Dad was a people person. He loved talking and socializing. Dad loved a gathering of family and friends. He loved BBQ ing and watching his grandkids swim at his house. He loved going to the beach. He loved good food. He loved being with people he loved.

Heaven gained an Angel and yes, we lost a friend.  I believe that Dad will continue to find ways of doing good for others.  He didn't just do good, He changed the lives of others for the better.
Dad Vision, Passion, and Compassion. Right before your eyes you could see him turning dreams into realities.  He instilled a sense of pride in all of us by setting high standards, leading and good examples. Dad loved to brag about employees’ and friends’ accomplishments.
He was proud of them all! Proud to be a part of your life. Dad was always running into people who knew him.  I am always running into people that know him.

Dad had a beaming smile and great sense of humor and wit.  It was infectious.
The next thing you knew you had the same smile on your face.

Dad would want to tell you to make sure you express yourself and make time for your loved ones. Life can be short, don’t waste it. Live life to its fullest and don’t compromise your dreams, live them.
Dad’s advice: If he could give it to you right now I think would be what he tells his grand kids all the time. In so few words that sum up a lot,
“Grandpas 3 rules in life”.
                       1. Believe in God ….. 2. Help Others ….. 3. Eat Dessert First

That was my Dad.  His standard is what I strive for daily.

Dad had undergone another drastic surgery in September 2005 for another kind of cancer in his throat. This left him without the ability to swallow and altered his throat so it was very hard to keep things from entering his lungs. He had a tracheotomy and was on a feeding tube.
He recovered partially within a couple of months and was happy and active.
He was relaxed, jovial and still very funny and witty.
He was coming to the office for about 2 hours a day and doing well.
About 3 weeks prior to his death he came down with a chest cold that created some pneumonia in his lungs.
Dad was being treated for that when he got the flu. He got sick and nothing could come out and much went into his lungs. He did not want to be on life support. His lungs weren’t going to function on their own any more.
About 650 friends and family attended his mass and funeral at Visitation Catholic Church.
Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support through Dad’s rough times and ours.

Sincerely,
Troy Davis
