1963

Pontiac Bonneville

My first memories of cars included this 1963 Pontiac Bonneville. We lived next door to my grandparents so I was always over there. I remember “Grandpa” always washing the car in the grass under the black walnut tree. It was always clean for Sundays. I always wanted to ride with in the Pontiac. I especially liked this car. Before I could narrow down exactly what car it was took some research and my own recollections.

My own recollections were how much black and chrome and red looked so cool. Remember I was probably only 3 feet tall so I had to concentrate on what my view was. I remember the stacked headlights, and that Pontiac Grille. Bright red interior with chrome accents and handles all over. I knew it was a 2 door because we always folded the seat to get in. The way the taillights look and the chrome molding on the sides. The dash grab bar. So I narrowed it down to this car. I was so happy after looking for a survivor found this one online. It needed some work but was acceptable for what our uses were going to be. It’s a great car. I drove it home from Las Vegas where we bought it. What a drive.
